CURRICULUM...

At Oaktree Academy, our curriculum is carefully designed to meet the diverse and complex needs of young people aged 11–16 who are unable to thrive in mainstream education. We provide a flexible, inclusive and trauma-informed approach that supports pupils who are at risk of, or have experienced, permanent exclusion. Many of our students live in residential care and have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), with identified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Our nurturing environment prioritises emotional safety, strong relationships, and personalised learning, enabling students to re-engage with education at a pace that suits them.

Our curriculum offers a balanced blend of academic and personal development opportunities. Pupils work towards accredited qualifications including Functional Skills and GCSEs in English and Maths. Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) is embedded throughout the curriculum to support social and emotional growth, resilience and life skills. Through Project Based Learning, students explore cross-curricular themes that incorporate STEM, Geography, History and Art and Design, promoting creativity, critical thinking, and real-world application of knowledge. This holistic model ensures that each young person is equipped not only with qualifications but also the confidence and skills needed to succeed in their next steps onto positive destinations post-16.
